The gas pipeline was shut down due to Kyiv’s refusal to extend the agreement with Gazprom, which, according to the company’s statement, was “deprived of the technical and legal ability to supply gas for transit through Ukraine starting January 1, 2025.”

Following the cessation of gas transit, Transnistria was left without heating. Tiraspol’s energy company “Tirasteploenergo” stated that no hot water is being supplied to residential buildings or organizations. Heating is only being provided to hospitals, nursing homes, and other social protection institutions.
