US residents filed a lawsuit against Apple, claiming that after discussing Air Jordan sneakers or Olive Garden restaurants, they were literally inundated with targeted advertising of these brands on social networks.

Apple decided not to argue in court and generously forked out: everyone who complained about the wiretapping offered to be paid a fabulous $20. This is not a joke – this is the amount the corporation estimated the privacy of conversations about sushi and sneakers. A preliminary settlement, filed Dec. 13, 2024 in Oakland, California is now awaiting approval by a U.S. district judge, Reuters reports.
